Curry Favor @ Stamford House

I'm in very very good mood today!!! It is Friday again!! Hehe which means I can laze around the weekend and maybe spend sometime playing my new game :P Haha just got Resident Evil 4 from a friend (thanks!!). I can't wait to start it. Hope that I won't be down with migraine and then can't do anything except rest again :( Hehe my good friend bought me a sunflower today and it really cheer me up. I love the colors and the feel of sunflowers. Thanks girl!!

Hehe okok, this has nothing to do with my header title :P Few days back, I went to this restaurant in Stamford House. They specialized in Japanese curry. Actually I got to know about this restaurant when they just opened back then. The review was not bad. Have always wanted to try this, cos I'm a big fan of Japanese curry (very high requirement too :P). Nearly tried it with my friend shan but the dinner was cancelled then :(

So finally when my BF suggested going there for dinner I was thrilled. The restaurant decor is not bad, comfortable and simple. The ambience is not bad too, with jazz music at the background and dim lights. There is another restaurant beside it (Moon River? Erm hope I got it correct) and these 2 restaurants are connected. Think they are under the same boss cos the menus is a combination of food from Curry Favor and Moon River. We decided to sit at the Moon River instead cos there is a seat by the window.

Looking at the menu, we decided to order Pork Roll, Mushroom Fry, their in house special Seafood curry and combi of fried Katsu(pork) and Ebi (prawn) with curry. We were served Pork Roll first. Wah this is impressive. They sliced the pork very thinly then roll it with asparagus and spring onion inside. It is BBQ done in Yakitori style. When I bite into the pork roll, I can taste the nice fragrant from barbecuing. The asparagus is done just nice too!! It is bit crispy on the outside, yet juicy in the inside. Very nice!! Next they served us the Mushroom Fry. It is nice when eaten hot, but I found it bit bland. They served 3 types of sauces with it; Japanese plum sauce, chilli sauce and mayonnaise. I personally like it with the plum sauce while my BF like it with the mayonnaise.

With these 2 appetisers so nicely done, I'm really looking forward to my curry :P I understand that there are 2 levels of spiciness; regular and extra spicy. In which we ordered both extra spicy. My BF's seafood curry was firstly served. I tasted the curry, hmm not bad. But I think it is not sweet enough as it should be in Japanese curry. His seafood curry contains prawns and scallops. I tried one of the prawn and scallop. They tasted like its been cooked and then added to the curry just before served (I could be wrong) :P The scallop didn't go well with the curry sauce though. Next they served my Katsu and Ebi curry, I tasted the curry sauce. Seem like they are using the same curry sauce for both dishes. The katsu was so so, the salt wasn't well spread so I got one side of my Katsu with more salt. My Ebi was overdone :( When I bite into the prawn, you can see that the prawn have shrunk, leaving a big gap between the crust. The prawn tasted dry and hard *disappointed*. The rice is also cooked with too much water, it tasted almost too soft and sticky (erm like very dried porridge?) I was totally amazed when my BF finish all his curry.... hai...

Overall the service is good with friendly and attentive waiter. However I am just disappointed with the curry though the appetisers is really good. I think I may go back again and hope that the food will be much better :)

Makan N KTV!

Found a nice place to eat Ma La (麻辣) hotpot. Its at marina south. It is a air conditioned restaurant. So its an excellent place for people who is afraid of heat and yet wants a meal of hot pot. Actually wasn't my first time there. Though I think the food standard was not better than the first time I was there. But the food is still good!!! Now with a Taiwanese couple joining the restaurant, the services are excellent. In fact, the lady boss services was bit re qing (热情) :) And with the fact now there are 2 extra Taiwanese bosses, they are serving more Taiwanese style side dishes.

First we were served with some side appetiser which consists of the chilli pork belly, vinegar cold cabbage, Taiwanese style fried chicken cutlet and braised pork rice (卤肉饭). My friend was totally in love with the braised pork rice, where he had 2 bowls of it. Hehe I was busy eating that I forget I should take a picture of it :P We ordered 2 soup base; the Ma La (spicy) and the Chinese wine chicken. The Ma La is really those that will numb your tongue, but it is not really spicy and hot. The special Szechuan peppercorn they added to the soup causes the numbness. This soup base is especially good for dipping in meats. They only sliced the meats (there are beef, chicken, pork and mutton) when you ordered it, so it’s really fresh! And it is so thinly sliced that you just need to dip into the soup for 4-5 seconds and its ready to eat. Hehe its like eating sabu sabu :P There are 3 levels of Ma La; mild, intermediate and the spicy. For first timer, you may want to try the intermediate level. Hehe personally i find that I can't enjoy much in the spicy version as my tongue are numb most of the time :P So I prefer the intermediate version.

My favourite is the Chinese wine chicken soup base. What I understand is that they will stir-fried the chicken with Hua Diao (花雕) wine and ginger then they will add in the chicken soup. Wah its very nice!! I can taste the fragrant of the wine. One thing I really like is that the bosses are very generous, when the lady boss are helping us refill the soup she offered to add more of the wine if we want. Hehe I cannot help but keep drinking the soup. I love my Tang'O and yam inside. HeeHee must try the yam, they fried the yam until almost cook. So after few minutes in the soup, the yam could almost melt in your mouth. The best is that you won't feel that the yam is oily from frying not like some other places. After the meal, they serve this cold dessert, it seem to be a mixture of red beans and porridge. According to the lady boss, its suppose to have a cooling effect after the heaty meal. I kind of like it hehe cos all along I like red bean. But my Bf totally not into it.

Overall, I felt that the service is excellent. The lady boss keeps asking whether we need anything else. The food is good. The ambience is great. Hehe I like this paper rabbit lantern that they hanged as decoration, so cute!! Haha almost feel like asking the lady boss where she got it :P The pricing is reasonable too. I will definitely go back again :)

After the meal, we proceed to KTV hehe my favourite pastime :P As you can see from the picture(sorry deleted), initially V was very shy. But partly cos S keep disturbing her too *hiak hiak* Bully xiao meimei hee hee. She is also quite camera shy, keep blocking her pretty face from the camera. Finally she decided to sing a few songs. Bravo!! The photo quality is bit bad cos we using our phone and its pretty dark inside the room.

S is usually good mood. Can see he is enjoying himself :P Usually the guys don't sing a lot when we go to the KTV. Most of the time, we girls will be hogging the mic :P But that night S manage to sing quite a few songs too. And we even sing a few hokkien songs haha. As you can see in the picture(sorry deleted), P was looking very engrossed at the MTV :P

Usually Mr J doesn't sing when he goes KTV with us. He just watches some of his favourite Mayday MTVs. But that day after the other guys keep asking him to sing for us, haha he finally picked up the mic :P He must be very tired cos he come to meet us after his class after work. Poor thing. See him dozing off in the picture :P Between this is his new haircut (sorry deleted). Haha that vain guy just went to KL with S. And he vain vain went to the saloon there to cut hair. Hehe..

Oh no... I already feel the itch to sing again. Hehe :P

(sorry guys, as requested some of the photos had been taken out. Cheers!!! )

The day I was born....

27 years ago of yesterday my mom decided to bring the cheeky and mischievous me to this world.. Hehe maybe I should ask her whether she regrets doing so or not :P I was so happy yesterday!! Got lots of surprises from my good friends...

I had a good lunch at Le'zaar at Marina Square with some of my good friends, SW, WM and SM. The food was so so, still think the Rice Table is better in terms of food and variety. However I also understand that some find Rice table food bit too spicy. Anyway its the crowd that matter most!! Not the food. Hehe thanks guy for the treat!! :)

One of my good friend AW bought me her favourite game of all time!! The Rush Hour. It's really a very nice game, there are around 40 puzzles inside. I only play the online version before so I was really excited to receive this. Hehe next time when we go lim kopi we can play this game. Yippy!! It's really thoughtful of her. :)

That bf of mine never gives me any flowers.... then I always need to wait for others to give it to me :P Hehe so it was really a nice surprise and I'm very touched when my good friend PM send me a bouquet of my favourite flower to me... (Hehe promise her that I will show her flowers here *hiak hiak*) Beside the flowers, she given me something I didn't even notice mine was old and rotting... So touched leh... Thanks ger :) *Hug Hug*

Okok... that bf of mine didn't give me any flowers... but he give me the thing I wanted most!! The Nintendogs!!! Thanks dear!! Hehe it started when I saw this game from emyln's blog who is a friend of Ivan. It's so cute!!!The color of the Nintendo DS he wanted to get me was out of stock in Singapore, so he ordered it from Hong Kong. When we opened the packaging, we are surprised to find a bag of sweets from them too. That's so sweet of them :) Hehe I name my doggie, blackie. See that's him, isn't he lovely? :P

My good god sister from Hong Kong also specially sends me something from there. Hehe but think there is a delay in the package so I still waiting :P

Then my silly sister went to boil an egg for me (cos mom not in) haha to wish me Happy Birthday :) We had a great meal yesterday with friend at the seafood restaurant followed by a drink at this Hong Kong style cafe at Katong/East Coast road there... You guys must try the French toast!! Its very very good. Crispy and not oily. My favourite is with banana in the middle, while my bf thinks the peanut butter is very good. They will put a piece of the butter on top. Imagine it melting in the toast. They also provide you with maple syrup and you can pour it over... Wah.. really nice... Hehe yesterday we ate that as dessert and I order the ice red bean drink with ice cream (红豆冰). Yummy yummy... this is no good, I'm getting really fat...

I feel so lucky and blessed that I got so many good friends and people who love me so much :) Thanks pal!! You guys really make my day :)

CS's Wedding/ My Darling

CS's Wedding~~~
Sat was my good friend, CS's wedding. Was busy throughout the whole day, because in the morning went to the bride's house to be part of the sisters group. Once I reached the house, I can feel joy everywhere. Especially you can see how happy the parents are. The dad is very cute. We (the sister group) were trying to prepare 4 types of food/drinks that signifies sour-ness, sweetness, bitterness and spiciness (酸,甜,苦,辣), which each couple will go through together in their marriage life. So while preparing the bitter gourd juice, the father is actually adding lots of honey inside!!! Haha he say we cannot bully his future son in law. How sweet!!

Then in the evening, I was helping out as the reception... Hehe... no cute guys leh: P *hiak hiak* The dinner was good, think the hotel did a good job in the decoration and the food. The wedding planner and also the photographer have done a great work. They are really good and pro :) Maybe after CS send me some photos, then I can post it here.

CS, if you happen to read this blog, I wish you and your lovely wife 白头偕老 and 永于爱河. Most most importantly, 早生贵子!!

My Darling~~~

Yippy!! Finally got my digital camera back, so now I can post more pictures. Hehe the first picture I post here will be my darling bunny. He’s called ‘Pi pi’ (皮皮), which simply means naughty. He is very naughty, jumping up the tables, trying to eat my tidbits. That day, he bite open my crepe mixture and eat almost one quarter of it… hai.. got me so worried because he started to eat less for that few days… Naughty naughty… And whenever I scold him, he will give me that innocent look " It's not me"...but I still love him as much. You will be seeing more of him here.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! Ops think I'm bit late.. hehe.. I spent my Halloween night in the most 'traditional' way, catching a horror movie "The Exorcism Of Emily Rose". I didn't know there is such a movie until I happen to see a documentary on the demons in the discovery channel and this movie was the sponsor of the documentary. Personally I think it's quite a nice movie, not those grade B movies that the actress screams for nothing :P However, I think some may find the pace of the movie to be slow. The movie focus mostly on the court case where the priest is held for negligent homicide while flashbacks of what had happen to Emily is shown. It is based on a true story, however when I searched for Emily Rose in the net, I'm unable to find any hits. But there are some websites that indicates that this movie is based on a German girl's story (Anneliese Michel) not the so called Emily.

After watching so many horror movies, it seems like different countries' movies uses different ways of showing their so-called evil spirits or even the ghosts. Evil seems to take form of the belief of the person or even the influences on the person from the environment and cultures. However the most scary movies are usually those that you believe it may happen to you or those that are unknown to you. Fears only exist when you believe in it. The good and the evil is a pair of inseparable pair; when a person believe in the good, the person will believe there is evil too. When unknown thing happens, the easiest way is to push the blame to the supernatural.

I still remember after watching the movie "The Ring" with my friends, one of them chooses to turn his TV to face the wall in his room. While my other friend still feels creepy each time he washes his hair, he was telling me he always imagine some days he will felt a hand on his head (Jung-on). As for me, I cannot forget the scene in "Sixth Sense" when the boy was totally frightened by the "thing" inside his tent... Or even the fear of not knowing what and who is inside your house (The Others)....

Do go rent some classic horror movie this week and enjoy yourself!!
