Yippy! Had a good weekend!!!

My Taiwanese friends...
Yippy! Had a good weekend since a long long time (cos either I'm sick at home or doing some work). I was very excited when I knew my Taiwanese good friend is coming over for a visit, though it is short I was hoping to spend real good time with her. So on friday, I took leave to go to the airport to fetch her. Oh my god, she has turned to be a real babe now. You don't know how happy I was to see her again, we haven't meet like 3 years!

Next we proceed to the hotel that she is staying. Its so nice!!! Got sea view and it is a mini suite with a damn big plasma tv inside the living room! And it's so cheap. Cos of her company, she's just paying 150 SGD for a night. So nice leh *envy envy*.

I was having a headache to decide where to bring her and her friend (who joined her in the trip and it is his first time here). In the end I decided to bring them to the Straits Kitchen which serves most of the local food in Singapore. And since it is buffet, they can try all the foods they feel like it. Most importantly, there is air con!! (my god, singapore is real hot this few days). They really like the Malay and Indian section however the chinese section was disappointing. The laksa bee hoon was not cooked well, tasted like rubber band. While the hainanese chicken didnt carry the usual fragrance as it should be. I didn't really eat much cos; 1. I was too busy running around helping them to source what I think is good. 2. Talking too much? :P 3. Trying lose some weight to look better for my good friend wedding on this coming saturday. But I have decided to go back one of these days with my bf to try out the food again. In fact, there is quite a crowd when we were having lunch there, its almost full house.

What to do next after makaning? Must be shopping lah. In Singapore, either you shop or you eat :P We shop around orchard, actually nothing much to shop either so we landed up having a drink and then sending them back to the hotel for a rest before meeting them for dinner.

Dinner was at Jumbo @ east coast seafood centre. I haven't been there for ages... Wah, its super crowded, we are so lucky that we make a reservation and got our seat immediately. We ordered 1. Steamed garlic sauce bamboo clam 2. Steamed Hong Kong style Soon Hock(fish) 3. Yam ring with scallop 4. Chilli crab with deep fried man tou (chinese bun) 5. Black pepper crayfish 6. Stir fried broccoli with garlic. 7. Drunkard prawns

The bamboo clam is good, though i prefer what I have eaten in Hong Kong before. In here, its those big sized clam, around 15 cm long. However in Hong Kong, its those baby clams stir fried in XO sauce *yummy yummy* Its really juicy and succulent. Don't know why I can't find this in singapore :'( The other dish I like was the yam ring with scallop. For each scallop, it is wrapped around with yam and then deep fried. Imagine like a tyre wrapped around a rim. The scallop is still moist, not too dried and with the yam wah... nice nice.....

We enjoyed most of the dishes. My taiwanese friends were most impressed by the bamboo clam ( they never eat or see it before). But there is a big disappointment in one of the dishes; the black pepper crayfish. The feeling I got is that the chef just steam the crayfish, put it back to the wok, added lots of black pepper and serve. It is tasteless with lots of pepper...hai....

After the satisfying dinner, we proceed to Clarke Quay to have a drink @ Tapas Tree. While we were there, we kpo kpo went see people doing the reverse bungee jump. Doesn't look very high leh, but one of the guy before going up was smiling and waving, but when he come down he really doesn't look very good :P Hehe I must try it one of these days :P

Was supposed to bring my friends to the Night Safari on the next day... but... I was down with migraine... and my friend was not feeling well.... so we all just rest... And on the next day, after buying her some Roti Boy fresh from the oven(which she specially asked for cos her friend back in Taiwan told her its really good) we bid her good bye.. hai.. Hope that on her next trip here, she can spend longer time. Hey I got a long list of restaurants and places to bring her around.

Doom
Oh yar oh yar, went watch movie DOOM. Was not bad lah... The Rock looks really hunky... Actually I didn't play much of the game, so mostly I was looking at the hunks and monsters.. There is one part of the show that is really interesting, not going to tell you guys. Hehe go watch it man!!
